A visible rash on the right side of President Donald Trump’s neck is the result of a topical cream used as a preventative skin treatment, according to his personal physician.

Donald Trump Neck Rash Linked to Preventative Skin Treatment, Doctor Says

Dr. Sean Barbabella said in a statement to CNN that, “President Trump is using a very common cream on the right side of his neck, which is a preventative skin treatment. The President is using the treatment for one week, and the redness is expected to last for a few weeks.”

The White House did not immediately provide additional details about why the treatment was prescribed.

The reddish area was noticeable during a recent Medal of Honor ceremony appearance, extending above the collar of his shirt and just below his ear. Trump, 79, has previously addressed questions about bruising on his hands, attributing it to frequent handshakes and taking a higher daily dose of aspirin.

Trump underwent medical exams last year at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, including cardiovascular imaging. Barbabella has stated the president “remains in excellent overall health.”
