Plans for a highly anticipated showdown between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao remain in flux, with key details still unresolved just months ahead of the proposed September date.
Speaking publicly during an autograph appearance at the Forum Shops at Caesars Palace, Mayweather made it clear that neither the venue nor the full structure of the event has been finalized. Early conversations had pointed toward Sphere as a possible host, but that option is no longer certain.
“We don’t know exactly where the fight is going to be at,” Mayweather said. “We don’t know the location of the fight. The Sphere is one of the places they talked about. But we don’t know if it’s going to be there.”
He continued to temper expectations, reiterating that no venue has been locked in.
“As of right now, we don’t know where the fight is gonna be. The Sphere is one of the places they talked about, so we don’t know if it’s 100%.”
Beyond location uncertainty, Mayweather also addressed confusion around the nature of the matchup itself. While early reports framed the event as a sanctioned rematch between two iconic champions, that is no longer the case.
“And this is not actually a fight,” Mayweather said. “It’s an exhibition.”
That distinction signals a different kind of event, one that prioritizes spectacle over official competition. Even so, interest remains high given the history between the two fighters and their global recognition.
Previous reports suggested the event could land on a major streaming platform, reflecting the continued push by digital players into live sports. However, with both the venue and format still unsettled, the final shape of the event remains a moving target.
