What has been a strong theatrical run for NBA YoungBoy’s new documentary American YoungBoy hit a tense moment in North Carolina after a screening turned chaotic, leading to multiple detainments.

According to local reports, seven juveniles were taken into custody on April 25 following a disturbance at a Regal Cinemas in North Hills. Authorities responded after receiving calls about a large group causing a disruption inside and around the theater, with early radio traffic describing a situation that appeared to be escalating.

“Approximately 20 people fighting in the Chick Fil A and the movie theater,” radio traffic stated. “I guess there is a violent group that’s out here. They’re not actually fighting. One guy is acting like he has a gun.”

While the situation raised concern, no weapons were ultimately recovered and the individuals detained were later released to their parents.

The incident stands in contrast to what has otherwise been a successful rollout for American YoungBoy, which has drawn strong fan engagement across the country.
