Ok, we may have to stop Elon Musk. This man’s company is polluting the moon. Yes, the moon. A Space X Falcon 9 rocket crashed into the moon at 2:35 a.m. ET at a speed of 5,400 mph, which is seven times the speed of sound.
How bad was the crash? Strong enough to create a new crater and create a dust plume that we could see here on Earth.
So how did the rocket get there? It was discarded, according to Space.com. The rocket was launched in January 2005 in effort to place a lunar lander on the moon. The rocket as to crash land back toward Earth getting cooked in the atmosphere. Sadly, it stated in orbit around the Earth.
Space X states the rocket is 230 feet tall and can carry 50,000 lbs of cargo.
Thankfully, the crash won’t impact Earth in anyway. Satellite images will appear “In a few days” showing the result of the crash.
