Trump has let the stroke of his pen go across another executive order. This time, Trump is looking to space out vaccinations given to children. With Robert F. Kennedy Jr., Health and Human Services Secretary, poached over his head, Trump presided over separating the measles, mumps and rubella (MMR) vaccine into three different shots.
According to The AP, Trump directed the nation’s health department to improved vaccine research, despite the current vaccinations had been previously vetted. Additionally, the separate vaccines are currently not available in America.
During his press conference signing the order, Trump stressed the desire was to reduce autism rates. However, there is no scientific data supporting the claims.
“Today’s Executive Order does not change the underlying scientific evidence supporting childhood immunization. That data has been built over decades — through large clinical trials, real-world effectiveness studies and continuous safety monitoring involving millions of children,” said Michael Osterholm, a University of Minnesota expert on infectious diseases.
