DJ Akademiks has an interesting take about Drake’s post-beef resurgence: Kendrick Lamar’s decision to move quietly may have given his former rival exactly the room he needed to rebuild momentum.
Interesting take, however if Kendrick was active would that have really stop Drake from being Drake? And dominating the ether? Doubt it. Look at the the Kendrick collabs he did drop. Can anyone really name them? Recite any bars? Point is Dot was not completely MIA and the Canadian freight train called ICEMAN was coming and it got here and stayed. And let’s stop pretending like $$$ 4U came and went. From fans to Latto, they was on TikTok sangin’ Somebody Loves Me with their whole chest.
Anyway, back to Ak, during a recent livestream, Hip Hop’s top voice argued that Kendrick essentially allowed Drake to operate without interruption after their explosive 2024 feud. Drake kept releasing music, engaging his enormous audience and proving that the battle did little to damage his ability to dominate commercially.
That makes sense. The “beef” didn’t put any scratches on Drake’s armor. Clearly.
Akademiks even described Drake as “Teflon” despite his loss to Kendrick in the court of public opinion.
The conversation also touched on The Game, whose continued relationship with Drake remains a point of discussion within Kendrick’s orbit. Akademiks pointed to people connected to Kendrick still avoiding The Game because of his Drake ties while previewing Game’s upcoming track “No Breaks,” which features Drake.
The Game has made his position clear, saying he loves both sides and is not taking shots, a stance that has done little to stop fans from dissecting every Drake and Kendrick connection.

For Akademiks, Kendrick’s silence may have been part of the equation. Kendrick continues to prioritize select releases and cultural moments, while Drake keeps flooding the marketplace. Fans can debate who won the battle. Drake’s ability to keep winning the numbers game is much harder to ignore.
