A tribute to a Black war hero will soon be cast aside in order to brand another item after President Trump.
The US Navy is currently in the process of renaming an aircraft carrier that is currently under construction. The carrier was originally to be named after a Black sailor for his heroic moments during the attack on Pearl Harbor.
According to CNN, details are short on why the Navy is straying away from dubbing the carrier USS Doris Miller, but insiders reveal that Trump’s name is what is being discussed. It would be a first that a naval carrier would be named after a sitting president.
In the development, another war ship would be named after Miller and he would be up for the Medal of Honor. However, both of those decisions would have to be approved by Trump.
