The Cowboys try to bounce back.
Early Friday (March 13), it was announced that DeMarco Murray had signed on with the Philadelphia Eagles for a 5-year deal worth $42 Million along with half of that guaranteed. Murray was the NFL’s leading rusher in 2014, racking up 1,845 yards as a member of the Dallas Cowboys. Instead of resigning him, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones opted to let Murray test free agency, a move that might hurt them now that Murray is now in the same division.
In a swift move, the Cowboys signed former Oakland Raiders running back Darren McFadden in order to fill the void Murray will leave behind. The 2-year deal is worth up to $5.85 million as well as a $200,000 bonus. Since being drafted in the first round by the Raiders in 2008, McFadden never materialized into the star back they hoped he would be. Not lacking any talent, he has been plagued with injuries throughout his 7-year career, never playing a full season while tallying up 4,247 yards on 1,038 carries and 25 touchdowns. With a stout offensive line boasting 3 pro bowlers, the Cowboys hope McFadden can not only stay on the field, but contribute.
