Fox, ABC and CBS Cancel Slew of Shows

Yesterday [Thursday, May 12], was not a good day to be a TV show. At least nine shows were cancelled yesterday, across several major networks.

Fox cancelled The Grinder and Grandfathered, both shows in their first season, and CBS cancelled CSI: Cyber, which officially ended the CSI franchise after 16 years. CSI: Cyber only lasted two seasons before getting pulled. Hip Hop journeyman Bow Wow starred as a character on the show.

ABC, adding to the trash heap, cancelled two longer running series in Castle and Nashville. They also axed The Muppets after one season.

While cancellations are not new to the realm of TV, these networks are clearly trying to figure out how to keep ratings up, even with popular series like CSI. With streaming dominating the way most people watch shows nowadays, these networks will be trying to figure out how to keep eyes glued to the TV screen.
