Cardi B Opens Up On Dark Energy Surrounding New Album: ‘I’m a very colorful person.’

Cardi B is gearing up for her next chapter with the rollout of her highly anticipated album Am I The Drama?, but this era is carrying a much heavier energy than fans may have expected.

The Bronx star has never shied away from bold visuals, but the imagery surrounding this project dives into darker territory. The album cover itself sets the tone, while the use of crows, long known as symbols of death, has also surfaced in her fashion choices. At Paris Couture Week with Schiaparelli, Cardi stunned the crowd by arriving with a live crow as part of her look.

In a candid conversation with Zane Lowe on Apple Music, Cardi revealed that the weight behind Am I The Drama?reflects a shift inside of her. “I really like to do my things very colorful. I’m a very colorful person. But it’s just like this past year, I feel like something kind of was dying in me.”

She went deeper, explaining how her mindset and approach to the industry have transformed. “My humbleness, me trying so much to be unproblematic, me trying to avoid drama, avoid the disses, avoid the btches, avoid the talks, it’s like that sht is dying, that’s dying out in me,” she admitted. “Because I’m really about to show you, btch, that you are not fcking with me.”

For Cardi, that inner shift has sparked a rebirth of confidence. She made it clear that the version of herself that once brushed things off is gone. “It’s like, ‘Oh, just ignore it, be the bigger person.’ That sht is dying. Now it’s like I feel like I gave y’all too much grace to think that y’all could fck with me. And it’s like that sht is dead, btch. Now I’m going to embrace that.”

Cardi’s message is simple—she’s not holding back anymore. “You wanted that, btch. Now I’m going to give it to you,” she declared. “And I hope you could take it when I motherfcking give it to y’all.”

With Am I The Drama? on the horizon, it’s clear Cardi B is embracing her rawest self yet, bringing both her artistry and her unapologetic spirit into the spotlight.
