The New York Knicks kept another piece to their puzzle by re-signing unrestricted free-agent guard J.R. Smith.  Smith is expected to sign a two-year $5.6 million contract with a player option in the second year.  As I stated before the Knicks are currently over the salary cap so this is the largest offer they could make.

Despite his erratic shooting Smith has provided the Knicks with intensity and one of the main keys to the offense off the bench. Smith, 26, averaged 12.5 points, 3.9 rebounds and 2.4 assists for the Knicks last season.
