Akon’s program is scheduled to reach other African nations including his home of Senegal, Gabon, Guinea Conakry, Mali, Burkina Faso, Gambia, the Ivory Coast, and Sierra Leone. The Konvict CEO is scheduled to meet with the leaders of these countries over the next week.

A statement from the akonlightingafrica.com website says, “The lack of electricity is currently a major problem in Africa,” reads the campaign. “A significant number of households in rural areas and even urban cities do not have access to electricity. This is a real obstacle to Africa’s Sustainable Development.”
