Columbus Short Is Leaving The Cast Of Scandal

Actor Columbus Short, one of the stars of the film "Cadillac Records",attends the film's premiere in Hollywood

Spoiler alert.

One of the last seasons of the season finale of Season 3 of Shonda Rhimes‘ scintillating political drama, Scandal, was Columbus Short–known by Scandal fans as Harrison–with a gun pointed at his head. It was a stirring image, but an inconclusive one, as it was impossible to tell whether or not he would be killed off in that final episode.

Whether or not that was Shonda’s intention, we now know that’ll probably be what ends up happening, as Short announced today his departure from Scandal.

Over the past few weeks, Columbus Short’s name has been in headlines for some unfortunate reasons: domestic dispute, custody battles and suicidal threats have all been discussed in conjunction with Columbus Short and his family during the month of April, and one would guess a build-up of personal issues has led to this decision, which he made via an exclusive statement to Essence.

At this time I must confirm my exit from a show I’ve called home for 3 years, with what is the most talented ensemble on television today. I would like to first thank Shonda Rhimes for the opportunity to work with such an amazing cast. Thank you GLADIATORS, who have supported me throughout my entire career and of course to ABC and Shondaland for allowing me to play such a pivotal role in the Scandal series. I have enjoyed every single minute of it. Everything must come to an end and unfortunately the time has come for Harrison Wright to exit the canvas,” said Short. “I wish nothing but the best for Shonda, Kerry and the rest of the cast, who have become like a second family to me in such a short amount of time. For this, I will forever be grateful.

We wish Short and his family the best.
