There are two confirmed deaths in the incident thus far
Just two days after 12 people were killed in a mass shooting at a satirical French publication, Charlie Hebdo, in Paris, a separate hostage situation has unfolded at a Paris market, and one of the gunmen has been linked to the Charlie Hebdo shooters–Reuters says one of the confirmed shooters, Amedy Coulibaly, trained in the same terrorist cell as one of the masked gunmen responsible for the fatal melee on Wednesday.
Initially, reports surfaced that there was a gunman that had taken several hostages at a Paris market, and early this morning the police surrounded the kosher market, and after initial shots were fired, one person was injured in the events that followed. However, several updates have provided more, detailed information. A viable French news source reported shortly after 8 AM today that two people were killed as a result of the hostage situation.
