The “living legends” collided last night on TNT

In previous years, the Lakers and Cavaliers facing off usually meant a match-up of two teams that could easily wind up going at it in the NBA Finals come May, but last night’s game was significantly less important. The Lakers have been out of playoff contention pretty much since opening night, and while everyone expects the Cavaliers to get it together and make a decent playoff run, this current team–and coach–doesn’t particularly scream Larry O’Brien trophy. That being said, it’s still an opportunity to see two all-time great NBA talents trade blows, except when one of them whiffs.

Such was the case when LeBron James, who had just recovered a Lakers turnover, dropped the ball off to Kyrie Irving and raced to the hoop expecting to throw down an alley-oop dunk. Kyrie gave LBJ the perfect pass, but James just…missed.

The cool thing about this is as LeBron jogged back down the court to get on defense, he and Kobe shared a nice little moment. Kobe looked as if he wanted to say, “been there buddy, just laugh.” Plus, these guys have 7 rings between them, neither of them is worried about a little swing-and-a-miss. Finally, it was #23 who got the last laugh: Cavs won.
