Almost like a cruel joke, musical pioneer after musical pioneer has been passing away as of late. Fresh on the heels of Prince‘s untimely death, Papa Webma, one of Africa’s most popular musicians and a leading figure in the World Music scene, has passed away at the age of 66. The Congolese musician suddenly collapsed during a music festival on the Ivory Coast.

Considered the “King of Rhumba Rock,” he is well know for songs like “Show Me the Way” and “Yolele.”

A video from the concert shows the musician slumped on the floor while the dancers carry on performing unaware of what is going on.

According to reports in Congolese publication Radio OkapiWemba, whose real name is Jules Shungu Wembadio Pene Kikumba, was pronounced dead on stage after singing his third song. Cause of death has yet to be determined.
