Venus and Serena Williams are back to their old ways, dominating on the tennis courts side by side. The sisters are back and better than ever, as they move on up in one of tennis’ most celebrated tournaments, Wimbledon.
Serena has been all over recently, starring in numerous ad campaigns and even making appearances in Lemonade. However, Venus has been out of the limelight and even out of sight in the tennis arena. This year, that changed as she emerged back onto the scene winning numerous tournaments before joining her sister in London.
The Williams sisters are providing the world with a bit of nostalgia by entering the semifinals of a tournament together, something that hasn’t been done since the U.S. Open in 2010. After facing health problems, Venus was absent from the tennis world for quite some time. Reports came out that she was diagnosed with the autoimmune disease Sjogren’s Syndrome.
Today, Venus is showing that she won’t let her diagnosis get the best of her as she’s schooling women twice her age in the sport. This week her victory over Yaroslava Shvedova (7-6, 6-2) has helped her to advance to the semifinals of Wimbledon. Her baby sister Serena has had a great year in tennis as well, making her way to the finals after a 6-2, 6-2 victory over Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova.
Could the world be in store for another Williams sister showdown?
