Johan Santana Throws First No-Hitter In New York Mets History

TheSource.Com

Friday night Johan Santana became the first pitcher in New York Mets history to throw a no-hitter. Manager Terry Collins had a 110-115 pitch limit on Santana who went on to throw a career high 134 pitches, but when Collins saw that Santana had a shot at Mets history he left him in. During the 6th inning ex-Met Carlos Beltran hit a fair ball that came in to contact with the chalk line, yet it was ruled foul by the umpire. All that didn’t matter as Johan struck out David Freese who is arguably the Cardinals best player for the 27th and final out of the game. As the Mets stormed the field for their pitcher who finally threw the first no-hitter for the Mets franchise who has played a total of 8,020 games, it shows how great sports truely are. Whether you’re a fans of the Mets or not this was a great moment for a player who is more than deserving of this achievement. This now leaves the San Diego Padres as the only team without a no-hitter in the MLB.
