While fans may have been disappointed, Funkmaster Flex put the stations reputation on his back and took aim at Young Money.
“We ain’t f***ing with commercial rappers no more!” boasted Flex to the audience. The statement was in response to Lil Wayne pulling Nicki Minaj and the rest of YMCB from performing at Summer Jam 2012. “If you lost the f***ing streets, it’s your fault!” Flex added. “Tune in tomorrow at 7” warned Flex
Wayne refused to let Minaj perform after Peter Rosenberg’s negative comments about Minaj’s “Starships” single. Rosenberg was quoted as saying “I know there are some chicks here waiting to sing ‘Starships’ later, I’m not talking to y’all right now f*** that bullsh*t… I’m here to talk about real Hip-Hop sh*t.”
Nicki responded on Twitter by tweeting “I go above and beyond for my fans. But won’t ever go against wayne’s word. What he says, goes”
Did both Hot 97’s DJs comments cross the line? Was Wayne’s reaction a bit much pulling a headliner with fans there to see her? Watch the videos below and tell us what you think.
