On June 18th the Electric Burma Concert will be held at the Bord Gais Energy Theatre in Dublin. All proceeds will go to Amnesty International and the Daw Aung San Suu Kyi Trust for Health and Education; the tickets are already sold out.

Aung San Suu Kyi was a nonviolent freedom fighter and Burmese opposition politician in the late 1980’s and 90’s; although leading the National League for Democracy to victory in 1992, she remained under house arrest for 15 years. In 2010 she was finally released, and continued her influential leadership as a politician and Parliament representative in Burma.

Lupe Fiasco will be one of the many performers to honor her life of revolutionary and courageous work on June 18th; as a political activist and writer himself, this is a perfect event for the Chicago artist to partake in.

Props to Rolling Stone.
