It has been two years since Chael Sonnen nearly defeated Anderson Silva, and for two years Chael Sonnen has waited/earned his long awaited rematch. If you haven’t been following the UFC as of late these two men absolutely hate each other. Sonnen had been harassing and baiting Silva every moment he had up until this fight, then Sonnen got the reaction he wanted, Silva went off in an interview saying he was going to basically break every bone in Sonnen’s body along with giving him his worse ass whooping he has ever got.
Last night was the time to put up or shut up for Chael Sonnen who said this fight was going to be like the first fight, and for the first round he was correct. Sonnen quickly took Silva down in the opening seconds and stayed on top of him the entire 1st round. In Silva’s corner before the 2nd round started you could hear someone say “the fight starts now for you.” That was when Silva came out and stuffed Sonnen’s take down keeping Sonnen on his feet. After exchanging punches Sonnen threw a spinning back fist, which resulted in him missing and falling down on to the canvas. Silva then pounced on his opponent landing a knee in to Sonnen’s chest before hitting him with elbows and punches to the head. The ref called a stop to the fight in the second round via TKO.
Post fight it seemed the two had squashed their beef as Sonnen was grateful for the rematch and the opportunity to fight Silva. Silva wanted to show the world that Brazil had manners going as far as inviting Sonnen to his house for a barbeque. Whether this was a sincere offer or just a post match troll by Silva we won’t know.This was Silva’s 10th successful title defense, but more imporantly what is next for arguably the greatest fighter ever?
