Put ya’ lighters up and light the candles for Lil Kim’s 36th birthday. The Queen Bee, who began rapping in the early ‘90s, gained notoriety for her album Hard Core released in 1996 for her raunchy lyrics and undeniable delivery.
Kim’s style, on and off the mic, paved the way for female rappers to follow. Lil Kim, whose lyrics matched her flashy attire, turned the tables for female rappers, being featured on male rapper’s songs such tracks as the Junior M.A.F.I.A.’s debut single “Player’s Anthem”
