On the heels of “Swangin'”, Stalley’s dropping in a week.

It appears that Stalley‘s debut album push has come to a halt once again. Prominently on the label since 2010, the Ohio native was billed to be MMG’s alternative rap act, who would effortlessly appeal to hip-hop fans in search of a sound other than Wale and Meek Mill, whose music, sonically, began to mirror Rick Ross’ more and more as time progressed. Despite well-received performances on “Slapp”, “Shop RMX”, “Party Heart”, and all of MMG’s releases over the past two years, “Swangin'”, which was initially billed as the lead single from his debut album, will find its home on a free project.

Moving forward, Honest Cowboy could possibly end up being Stalley‘s best work to date. His flow, track presence and content matter has become more focused and refined since his first major MMG appearance (Self Made‘s “Running Rebels”), and his verse on Rick Ross’ “Ten Jesus Pieces” could quite possibly be among the best performances on God Forgives I Don’t, which is certainly an accomplishment considering Nas, Jay-Z, Andre 3000, Wale & Meek Mill all provided contributions. “Swangin'” shows off all the reasons Stalley should be respected as a talent to be acknowledged, and its no mistake its absolutely the best single of his career. Honest Cowboy is set to be released on August 8th, and with contributions from ScHoolboy Q, DJ Quik, Cardo & Terrace Martin, it appears that sonically, we’ll have no problem enjoying Stalley’s latest.
