Remy Banks is the self-appointed pothead of the collective. He has been cosigned by Domo Genesis being featured on multiple of his songs, the resident weed enthusiast in Odd Future. Yes, on his only solo project he does have multiple songs that revolve around smoking or feeling high. However, he has just as many songs dealing with attaining or losing love, and his dreams for the future. Don’t let tracks like “Clouds” distract you from making notice of the number of tracks that showcase the incredible breadth of topics he rhymes about.
On that note, World Famous is one of the highlights of the projects this collective has released. It has smooth jazz undertones that are frequently laced with more modern programmed drum patters. Banks successfully harkens back to the heyday of Tribe Called Quest, which makes the tape incredibly easy to listen to.
On top of that, his flow is quite laidback and hazy—which is definitely due to the amount of weed he ingests. His rhymes mesh well with all of the beats, which add another layer of smoothness to the entire project. Songs like “Dreaming” or “Mansions” highlight this quality.
