If you haven’t noticed Chicago, Illinois is in the midst of a rap renaissance. Drill music and the violence it narrates, as documented by WSHH’s latest original production, have taken a large chunk of America’s attention. At the same time a movement of more thought provoking music is rising in the Windy City spearheaded by the likes of our Rookie Of The Year Chance The Rapper, Vic Mensa, and Mick Jenkins.

Mick Jenkins has accumulated a steadily growing following in the Midwest and with his new mixtape, The Water(s), due to drop next month, Mick releases the second leak from the project, the OnGuad-produced “Leonidas”.

King Leonidas is heralded in the annals of history for leading a small, but disciplined group of soldiers against the World’s then-largest super power, and Mick intends to do the same. Check out “Leonidas” below and be on the look out for The Water(s) when it drops in February.
