Known for their avocados, Michoacan has been the center of heated street battles that have recently concluded with the fleeing of local boss, Efrain Issac “El Tucan” Rosales. In the ensuing confusion of escape, the cartel general left a cache of weapons, vehicles, and his home fully furnished, giving the local vigilantes a makeshift headquarters. This was a major victory for the town, who were routinely intimidated by the Knights Templar, claiming to be a “necessary evil”. It resulted in a farms and ranches, once illegally confiscated, being returned to their delighted and thankful rightful owners.
Juan, another vigilante, voiced a popular powerful idea, “If the government can’t help you, you have to help yourself.” Going into more detail, he further stated that ” All we want is to do is just pick up the arms so that we can drive them away. After that we’re just going to put them down again.” An amazing ideal to follow, especially when facing an international operation credited for supplying 90% of America’s cocaine. There is no way to properly understand their fighting spirit and resolve, they are knocking on death’s door everyday. Hopefully, their efforts will continue to pay off and eventually eradicate any cartel threat they live around.
