Let’s Pay Homage To The Captain – Derek Jeter’s Greatest Career Moments

Mr. November

November 1st, 2001

The clock struck midnight during extra innings in the Bronx, making it the first time in MLB history that a game has been played in the month of November. It was Game 4 vs the Arizona Diamondbacks in the 2001 World Series. The count was 3-2 with 2 outs in the bottom of the 10th, with the game tied 3-3.

With Byung-Hun Kim on the mound for Arizona, Jeter sends the pitch to the right. The ball began to die out but made it over the fence, and the Yankees won in walk-off fashion. Game announcer Michael Kay gave Jeter the nickname, “Mr. November,” after the heroic homer, and the rest is history.
