House Budget Committee Chairman, Paul Ryan, unveiled a plan to cut federal spending by $5.1 Trillion over the next decade. The Huffingpost.com article says that the proposal will balance the books but it would cut Pell-Grants for low-income college students, food stamps and medical care for the poor and working class. But the plan would not affect senior citizens, in the short run. And if it does affect senior citizens, they would receive vouchers for Medicaid.

The House Budget Commitee reviews bills, watches oversees the federal budget and sets revenue and spending levels. The committee meets on the second Wednesday of each month.
