When you mention the likes of Rey Mysterio, you have to think about those who paved the way for his above-ground style of wrestling. Jimmy “Superfly” Snuka not only pioneered the high flying style of wrestling that has become favorited by fans, but in his match against Bob Backlund in 1982 at Madison Square Garden introduced the cage match to the sport. In this historic match Snuka took flight from the top of the cage narrowly missing Backlund who inevitably won the match. His aerial athletic ability took him from a hated heel to fan favorite especially with his signature Superfly Splash.
