“The happy song makes me HAPPY.” – Courtney Sanford
Seconds after 32-year-old Courtney Sanford posted a Facebook status Thursday morning, she crossed the center median of a busy road, hit a recycling truck and died, police said. Sanford’s post was seen by her friends at 8:33 a.m., a minute later a 911 call was placed notifying police about the crash. Footage that caught the crash on camera revealed that Sanford’s car swerved off the road into a ditch and caught on fire. The recycling truck hit a tree and was just a few feet away.
While the truck driver was unharmed, Sanford died instantly. Sources say that alcohol and drugs did not play a role in the accident but police are still running a toxicology report to confirm. Police say she was wearing a seat belt that was improperly fastened, but it is not clear if the seat belt could have saved her life. Authorities also discovered the young woman had took a series of selfies while she was driving.
