From beginning his Hip Hop Fellowship at Harvard, to his partnership with Google & Microsoft in order to provide scholarships to African American and Latino children, the pioneer is dominating the hip hop in education coalition. He has now partnered with Koru, a company based in Seattle,WA that focuses on helping students transition from college to employment.

The New York Times reports that “What partnership means, in this case, is a $100,000 investment in the company and, separately, the establishment of the Nas Scholarship Fund, which will cover Koru’s $2,700 tuition for 10 students in the first year. Nas has also committed to coaching Koru’s students.”

Koru partners with companies in the tech and business fields to coach students as well as provide them with real world knowledge.

Nas spoke about the exciting new venture saying “I’m inspired to support Koru participants because I knew how hard it can be to carve out your path and purpose in life. I can’t wait to work directly with them and share what I’ve learned through my own life experiences.”

The company hopes that with Nas as a new coach and leader in the company, they will be able to reach a demographic they have had trouble appealing to in the past.
