Footage of a legendary night has surfaced
Shortly after the release of his notoriously released Magna Carta Holy Grail album, Jay Z flew overseas to chat with prominent BBC Radio personality, Zane Lowe, and he revealed that there was footage of Swizz Beatz and Timbaland going back and forth on a table in the studio, crafting what would become “Versus”–an interlude on the album–in freehand form.
Just over a year later, Swizz Beatz uploaded two Instagram videos showcasing the night Jay discussed, in which he and Timbaland try to create “Versus” on the spot, as Jay Z rapped his lyrics, in real time. It’s only 40 seconds, but its enough to show that Jay told no tall tale in the Zane Lowe interview. Watch and enjoy.
