As if we need any more Ferguson controversy
Somehow late Tuesday night, one of the Michael Brown memorials in Ferguson burned to the ground. Nearby residents are blaming everything from badly placed–or purposely displaced–candles to mischievous police officers, and the Ferguson PD police chief is promising a full investigation.
Today, a picture on the mediablackoutusa Instagram account showed a police officer, reportedly working a Ferguson demonstration in lieu of the memorial burning down, wearing a bracelet with the words “I Am Darren Wilson” emblazoned across it. Darren Wilson is the name of the cop that killed Michael Brown on August 6th, which was the beginning of the tumultuous events in Ferguson. According to Buzzfeed, those bracelets weren’t distributed to all police officers, and it’s his opinion that the decision to wear them were made by individuals, and not the department. Either way, it’s a disturbing sight.
