Marshawn Lynch is, by far, the NFL’s best combination of talent and enigma. He is a top-tier NFL running back making the best of the second leg of his career, a Superbowl champion, and also the media’s public enemy #1.
No one said he didn’t have personality, though.
After Lynch, whose nickname is very appropriately #BeastMode, ripped an earth and cornerback shattering run against the New Orleans Saints in their 2012 first-round playoff match-up, he celebrated by diving backwards into the end zone while grabbing his crotch, a ‘f*** you’ to the numerous Saints that tried to thwart his efforts just seconds before.
The celebration became known as the “Hold My D***” after this YouTube video went viral, and though Lynch has never publicly acknowledged it, we’re pretty sure he’s very aware of it.
So, when Lynch got all #BeastMode against the Cardinals last weekend, after a run that was eerily similar to the one he had against the Saints, he celebrated in the same manner, but this time the NFL was all over it.
Lynch will have to pay an $11,050 fine for what’s being referred to as an “unsportsmanlike gesture.”
Totally worth it.
