Shocking Footage Of Deadly Plane Crash Surfaces, Death Toll Rises To 31

A TransAsia Airways flight meets its deadly demise

Just a few minutes after it took off from Taipei’s Sungshan Airport, a TransAsia Airways ATR 72 plane crashed in the Keelung River, just narrowly missing a highway and resulting in the deaths of what is now being reported to be 31 people. Shocking dashcam footage was recovered from several cars on the freeway the plane narrowly missed, including the above video which was captured just before the aircraft went down into the Keelung.

According to control tower records, the plane’s pilot called out “Mayday” three times during flight, but preliminary investigations did not reveal exactly what caused the crash. 31 of the plane’s 58 passengers, including the pilot and co-pilot, have been confirmed dead as per a CNN report. Speculation as to what went wrong has produced little to no concrete theories, except for one analyst’s observation of an abnormality in the rate at which the plane’s left propeller was spinning.
