Watch This Amazingly Dark And Adult ‘Power Rangers’ Mini-Movie

It’s motherf—ing “Morphin’ Time”.

Lionsgate and Saban Entertainment confirmed a few months back that a reboot of the Power Rangers film franchise is set to be released in 2016. While skepticism is expected, as Power Rangers largely lost its appeal back in the 90’s, director Joseph Kahn and producer Adi Shankar (The Grey, Lone Survivor, Dredd) came together to create this grim and violent reimagining of the original cast aptly named Power/Rangers.

In this reinterpretation of Power Rangers we find Katee Sackhoff  (Riddick, Battlestar Galactica) as Kimberly/Pink Ranger being interrogated by the traitorous former ally Rocky/second Red Ranger, played by James Van Der Beek (Dawson’s Creek, Don’t Trust the B—- in Apartment 23). Rocky is inquiring about the whereabouts of Kimberly’s love interest Tommy/Green Ranger, played by Russ Bain, while bringing us up to speed on the unfortunate fates of the rest of the gang — and by that we mean everyone else is dead.

The 14-short is extremely violent, uses explicit language and there is even brief nudity, so you might want the kiddies to sit this one out. The adult tone of the film makes sense, the series is keeping up with the maturity level of its audience, who were kids at the time but are now largely 20-something year olds. Suffice to say it’s everything you could want from a Power Rangers reboot.

Enjoy Power/Rangers while you can above, as TMZ reports  that SCG Power Rangers LLC, who are behind the real series are demanding the mini movie be taken down.
