The erotic romance trilogy that took the world by storm was adapted to film on Valentine’s Day 2014, and there’s talk about the sequel.
Sam Taylor-Johnson, director of Fifty Shades of Grey opted out from directing the sequel Fifty Shades Darker. She told Deadline.com:
Directing Fifty Shades Of Grey has been an intense and an incredible journey for which I am hugely grateful. I have Universal to thank for that. I forged close and lasting relationships with the cast, producers and crew and most especially, with Dakota and Jamie. While I will not be returning to direct the sequels, I wish nothing but success to whosoever takes on the exciting challenges of films two and three.
The reasons for her formal leave were not stated, but I’m hoping that the reason wasn’t too drastic. The first part of the trilogy grossed more than a half-billion dollars in the box office. Which means that the show must go on, with or without Sam. The stars, Jamie Dornan, Christian Grey, and Dakota Johnson, Anastasia Steele, will remain onboard for the film franchise.
I’ve read the entire trilogy by E.L. James and I can’t wait to see if Fifty Shades Darker will portray the book as well as Fifty Shades did. There are no details on the movie, all we know is that it’s coming.
