A 60-year old man is assaulted following a lengthy verbal confrontation with a fellow train rider
Police in Philadelphia are actively looking for a young man that knocked out a 60-year old man with one vicious punch on a SEPTA train platform on Monday.
In the above video footage, though there’s no sound, it’s very clear that the two men got into a verbal confrontation while on the train, and it becomes even more obvious when one of the younger man’s friends walks over and places her hand on his chest in an effort to calm him down. The two men appeared to be merely jarring, but things slightly escalated when the younger man slowly took his backpack off, placed it on the ground, and stood tall, bracing himself for whatever was next.
The surveillance footage quickly switches to an angle from one of the cameras on the 15th street platform where the physical altercation took place, and thought the camera provides an angle that’s much farther than the one on the train, it’s very clear when the younger man cocks back, and unloads a punch on the 60-year old man (2:20), whose body immediately froze up and fell to the ground.
SEPTA police chief Thomas Nestel revealed that the victim suffered “a broken jaw and an open wound that required stitches.”
