Michigan teen earns three degrees before recieving her high school diploma
While the internet is filled with many videos displaying teens fighting or committing other acts of violence, one teen is doing something positive with her time and it benefits her future. Michigan teen Jasmine Cofield is about to accomplish something that high school students don’t do very often. Cofield is receiving three degrees while still in high school.
According to MLive, while attending Mott Middle College, 19-year-old Cofield managed to receive three college degrees before getting her high school diploma in 2013. Cofield is named as the 2015 Newman Civic Fellow which honors college student leaders who have demonstrated an investment in finding solutions for communities facing challenges throughout the country. Now a senior at Central Michigan University, Cofield is studying to become a physician’s assistant in neuroscience.
The college senior has traveled the U.S. helping families who are in need. She has built homes for Hurricane Katrina victims and helped restore facilities dedicated to housing families affected by HIV/AIDS in Atlanta. Later on this year, she will be traveling to Honduras this year through Global Brigades.
