Check out the newest heart-wrenching indie teen movie that’s much more than just a teen movie.
Hitting select theaters June 12, Me and Earl and the Dying Girl won both the Grand Jury Prize and the Audience Award at the 2015 Sundance Film Festival. Directed by Alfonso Gomez-Rejon and written by Jesse Andrews, Me and Earl and the Dying Girl is based on Andrews’ novel of the same name. The film stars Thomas Mann as Greg, an aloof and reclusive high-school senior who strays away from personal relationships, whose world is flipped when his mother encourages him to spend time with his classmate Rachel (Olivia Cooke). Greg even maintains distance with his best friend Earl (RJ Cyler), whom he constantly refers to as his co-worker rather than friend. Together Greg and Earl create terrible short parodies of their favorite films as a pastime and take their filmmaking to the next level by creating a tribute to Rachel. This touching story looks at teenage friendships from a unique perspective that reveal the depths of emotion high school seniors can have. Check out the trailer below:
