Little girls love dolls that resemble them. Especially when it comes to their hair. But let’s keep it real, Barbie never had a doll with natural hair.

Now there will be a doll for little girls with natural hair to love and appreciate. According to Madame Noire, Angelica Sweeting has created the 18 inch “Angelica” doll that is a little different than others.  “Angelica” was no random creation; there was an inspiration behind her creation:  Sweeting’s daughter, Sophia.

On her Kickstarter account, Sweeting states why  she wanted to create a doll with similarities to her daughter and other little girls like her.

“My daughter Sophia was not happy with her kinks and curls because of the doll I was putting in her hands every day. Sophia wanted long straight hair, and she even started expressing a strong dislike for her facial features and skin tone,”

The doll will have kinky hair for little girls to put bantu knots, twist outs, and braids in. Each doll will come with a brush, spray bottle and a denman brush, and according to Sweeting, will have features like an African American girl.   Sweeting created a kickstarter account to raise $25,000 to get the Angelica doll put on shelves and has already raised $55,042.

Do you think Toys ‘R Us will make way for Angelica on their shelves?
