The Police Hogtied a Man, and he Later Died

Troy Goode, a 30-year old man, has died following an arrest in which he was hogtied by Mississippi police after he was allegedly behaving “erratically,” and got out of a car and disrupted bystanders. Police say he was intoxicated, however he was being driven by his wife. The both of them were returning home from a concert.

Unfortunately, during Goode’s arrest, Goode’s wife saw her husband alive for the last time. After being told that should she show up to the hospital, she’d be obstructing justice, Goode’s wife received a phone call just an hour later that her husband was dead.

According to a witness, Goode appeared to be reacting so negatively to his arrest, he wondered if she alleged suspect was claustrophobic.

Mr. Goode was convulsing, or fighting against his restraints, and I don’t know why, but it was clearly—I said on the video it looks like he’s claustrophobic, that’s the only way I could describe it. His body was writhing. At that point, I was very concerned with his safety.

Goode’s attorneys are currently awaiting official autopsy reports to see just what caused their client’s untimely death. Police and fire department officials have alleged that Goode was on LSD, but toxicology results weren’t available at the time to either confirm or refute those claims.

The video clip above was taken by a bystander during Goode’s arrest, and is specifically of the moment he was detained and strapped–face-down, might we add–to a stretcher and taken to a nearby hospital.
