Who doesn’t love Franklin?
On Friday, July 31, PEANUTS celebrated the 47th Anniversary of Franklin, its first African-American character. The story behing Franklin is that Harriet Glickman, a school teacher wrote a letter to Charles M. Schulz, the comic strip’s creator, and urged him to created an African-American character in honor of the recent death of Martin Luther King Jr. Franklin Armstrong was then introduced on July 31st 1968. So on that note, happy belated birthday Franklin!
