What a time to be these guys.
Drake and Future have both had ridiculous years, and they joined forces for Sunday’s release, the What A Time To Be Alive mixtape-album, which–understandably–broke the internet. The 11-song set, produced largely by Metro Boomin with help from 808 Mafia and OVO architect 40, debuted on OVO Sound Radio at 6 p.m., and dropped on iTunes less than 2 hours later, making for a Sunday evening full of Hendrix and the 6 God’s excitable sermons.
It appears the excitement will only continue. WATTBA is expected to do huge numbers in its first week, similar to Drake’s January surprise mixtape-album, If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late. According to Hits Daily Double, the set is looking to move 500,000 units, which will surely be enough to top Lana Del Rey‘s new album, Honeymoon, for the #1 spot. If it does just that, both Drake and Future will have garnered two #1 albums each on the Billboard 200 in 2015, an impressive feat to say the least.
