ScHoolboy Q‘s major label debut album, Oxymoron, was a success for the TDE rep, garnering him a Grammy nomination and a #1 debut on the Billboard 200, making him the first rapper in his potent crew to achieve the feat. Since then however, Q has been on the quiet side, emerging for a guest feature here-and-there, like Tinashe’s “2 On” or Disclosure’s “Latch RMX,” but as far as putting out music of his own, it’s been more than a two-year wait for fans of Groovy Q.
Last month, TDE head Anthony “Top Dawg” Tiffith hinted at the end of that hiatus with a captivating preview of a new ScHoolboy Q music video, apparently titled “Groovy Tony,” but since then the full version of the song has yet to be released. Yesterday afternoon, Tiffith hinted at new ScHoolboy music again, this time getting a little more specific. When a fan casually asked if we’d be receiving the album before or after the summer, and Tiffith simply responded “B4,” meaning there’s hope for the next couple of months. Watch the aforementioned preview here, and gear up for what will likely be a hot Spring/Summer for everyone’s favorite Hoover Crip.
