AMC’s Walking Dead episode 11 of season six, delivered what new found character Jesus promised at the end of the last episode: “Your world is going to get a whole lot bigger.”
After being captured by Daryl and Rick in episode 10, Jesus was forced to reveal where his group is staying, another walled refuge named Hilltop.
The love interests theme continues as Rick reveals his relationship with Michonne to Carl, who willingly accepts it. Abraham and Sarah’s relationship continues to be strained, while Maggie and Glenn reveal big news to the group towards the end.
Before arriving at Hilltop, the group of Abraham, Maggie, Glenn, Michonne and Rick find some of Jesus group turned over in a car accident. The group must enter a dark, walker filled building to save what’s left of the Hilltop group, specifically a doctor from the new community.
Rescuing the trapped group of Jesus’s friends, they arrive at Hilltop. A smaller community the Alexandria with food, livestock and a huge building housed by leader of the colony, Gregory. Rick pushes Maggie into a leadership role, leaving the negotiations up to her.
Gregory is a very brash and unlikable character, shrewd in his negotiations, he refuses Maggie’s proposal to initiate a trade between the two communities. In the midst of their conversation, a group of the Hilltop group return to the colony.
The returning group reveals they have been trading with Negan and his group the Survivors, during which one of their group has been held for ransom, after Negan determined their shipment was “light.” During the scene, the returning group stabs Gregory as part of the demands of Negan. The fight ensues, as Rick is subdued with a blade, and just when the attacker is ready to cut his throat, Rick drenches himself in the blood of the would be assailant.
Maggie ultimately works out a trade between Alexandria and defenseless Hilltop, promising to take out The Survivors and return their kidnapped victim, in exchange for half of the crops and medical supplies they have.
In an interesting twist, Maggie uses medical equipment while at Hilltop and the episode ends as the group passes around the ultrasound image of the unborn baby, a surreal moment for the survivors of the zombie apocalypse.
