NFL: Victor Cruz Takes Drastic Pay Cut To Remain With New York Giants

Going into the 2015 NFL season, there were many question marks surrounding Pro Bowl wide out Victor Cruz. In November of 2014, he suffered a devastating knee injury that sidelined him for the remainder of that season. He followed things up by missing the entire 2015 season with a calf injury. Cruz was scheduled to make $7.9 million in 2016 but due to a drastic pay cut, he will earn $1.3 million.

The catch though (pun intended), is that if he can remain on the field and produce a certain amount, the incentives can boost his salary to $5.5 million. The extra cap space helped the Giants make offseason moves such as signing defensive end Olivier Vernon and cornerback Janoris Jenkins. Cruz took to his social media and posted a photo of himself in front of the New York Giants facility with the caption “Once a Giant always a Giant. See you in September.”
