Every day for the last week or so has been Talk About LeBron James Day, and the thick of the NCAA tournament won’t change the fact that he’s the most fascinating person to talk about in sports right now.
Thankfully, today, we have some actual on-court news to report, which might save us from being mocked by LBJ (maybe not), but it’s still probably not the type of thing LeBronnnnn James would want to wake up and read about himself.
Last night, the Cavaliers–who, despite the conclusions drawn about James’ social media dealings, have been playing better-than-average basketball lately–traveled to Brooklyn for a showdown with the Nets, and one team walked away easily with the victory. It just wasn’t the team everyone expected. That’s right, the Nets pulled off the improbable upset (there usually aren’t “upsets” in pro sports but it’s March, bear with us), and defeated the Cavs by a final score of 104-95. King James played one of his most efficient games of the season, missing just 3 of the 16 shots he took en route to a 30-point, 5-assist, 6-rebound performance. Kyrie Irving on the other hand had a night to forget, hitting just 6-of-22 shots for a meager 13 points, racking up just 4 assists.
Awkward.
As the game started to get away from the Cavs, LeBron had a couple moments of extreme frustration, which led him to throw a couple mini-fits right in front of the Cavs bench, as per the above Vine clip. Could we read too much into this and say that looks like a guy that would much rather be playing with Melo right now? Sure. Instead we’ll just wait for tomorrow’s development.
