The biggest storyline during the 2015-2016 NBA season has been the Golden State Warriors’ chase for history, as they look to eclipse the 72-10 record set by the 1995-1996 Chicago Bulls. Many legends have weighed in on whether it is possible to break the record and fans have been debating on which team would emerge as the victor if both squads were to face off. With three games left in their season, the Warriors sit at 70-9 and must win all of their remaining games to set a new record.
LeBron James, fell to the Warriors during last year’s NBA Finals, showed support for Stephen Curry and the Warriors in their quest for history. Ahead of the Cleveland Cavaliers matchup against the Chicago Bulls, James spoke with ESPN stating that “records are meant to be broken” and he would love to see the Warriors reach that milestone.
“That doesn’t mean your record that’s broken [and] anyone is looking less of you. You have rushing records that are broken. You have home run records that are broken. You have 100-yard dash [times] that are broken. You have all types of records that are broken, but no one ever looks down upon the record that is broken.”
The Warriors have only the San Antonio Spurs and Memphis Grizzles in their way, facing the latter twice. With a win against the Grizzles tonight, Golden State would be the second team to have a 71 win season.
