Ty Dolla $ign Releases Documentary Honoring Incarcerated Brother

Ty Dolla $ign is opening up about his relationship with his brother TC, also known as Gabreal Griffin, who’s currently facing a murder charge. In the documentary, Ty Dolla $ign talks about the history of their brotherhood and how it played a part in their eventual outcome.

They were competitive. They were both moving in a separate direction. Ty was being a professional at music, Gabe was trying to prove that he was a man.” Phyllis, Ty Dolla $ign’s mother says.

Gabreal and Ty Dolla $ign grew up together in Los Angeles, California along with their sister Angel and father Ty Sr. Ty’s latest release Free TC features Brandy, E-40, Kendrick Lamar, Babyface, Kanye West, Wiz Khalifa, Trey Songz and more. The album’s cover features a photo of Ty Dolla $ign in a jail talking through a phone while showing off his ‘Free TC’ hand tattoo. In an interview with Vice last year, Ty described watching his brother age behind bars as “hell.”

The 12 minute documentary shines light on the effects of incarceration beyond the cell. Ty Dolla $ign details his efforts to get his brother out of jail and gives fans an inside scoop on his personal life as well.
